What is peace worth to you?

September 21st is the International Day of Peace.

In honor of this day, we are asking for a donation of $21.

21 things you can do to create peace!

#1 Go for a Walk

Sunshine and fresh air is magic for your frame of mind. Listen to the sounds of nature and the environment around you.

#2 Try a 5 Minute Meditation

Set your phone, watch, or whatever you like for a 5 minute period. Close your eyes, take deep breaths from your diaphragm and focus on the present moment. Continue for 5 minutes. Remember, you are not trying to “think about nothing,” but rather to gently acknowledge thoughts as they arise with each inhalation and let them go as you exhale.

#3 Support Nonviolent Solutions to Global Problems

You can bomb the world to pieces, but you can’t bomb it into peace.

#4 Spend Time with Loved Ones

There is something special in just relaxing and being around the people that you love. Relaxing with your partner, kids, parents, and others whom you care about will help you appreciate life and bring you peace.

#5 Learn about Another Culture

Celebrate diversity! Step outside of what you know and learn about how others live.

#6 Be Kind

Do something nice for a stranger, just because!

#7 Forgive

Don’t hold onto a grudge.  Let it go!

#8 Be your Authentic Self

Stay true to who you are, and work on loving yourself with all your quirks and foibles. Accept your identity and your body. Rather than trying to minimize your faults, work on celebrating yourself and being the best possible version of you.

#9 Study the Lives of Peace Heroes

Learn from those who have committed their lives to bringing peace to the world.

#10 Help Create a Community Peace Park or Garden

Does your community have a peace park?  If so, can you lend a hand or simply spend some time there.  If not, can you create one?

#11 Support Health, Education, and the Arts over More Weapons

Work to make your community a place where everyone thrives, where quality education is accessible to all, and where the arts flourish.

#12 Help Educate the Next Generation to be Compassionate and Responsible

What are you teaching your children about how to treat others and how to treat the planet? Model compassion and responsibility.

#13 Get into Nature

Our world is incredible in its diversity and natural attraction. Something as simple as sitting under a tree or relaxing by a river can have a calming, relaxing effect on your mind.

#14 Be Grateful

Take time each day to be grateful. You can start your day by writing down three things you are grateful for. Perhaps you want to pause at the end of the day and think of all the things you have to be grateful for from the day?

#15 Accept Personal Responsibility for Creating a Better World

It’s going to take each of us doing our part.

#16 Recognize the Good in People

Anytime we meet someone, we form an instant judgement. Stop and think about your judgement. Is there foundation for it? We all have the same needs and feelings. Try and see the good in everyone you meet.

#17 Speak Up for a Healthy Planet

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Support local agriculture and local businesses.

#18 Live Simply

What do you truly need? Keep your footprint small and live simply on this earth.

#19 Teach Peace to Children

In the words of Gandhi, “If we are to reach real peace in the world, we shall have to begin with the children.”

#20 Send $21 to Peace Village Global, to Teach More Children Peace

By supporting the work of Peace Village Global with a gift of just $21, you will help more communities around the world start PVG programs, where children are taught to be mindful, where they learn to be stewards of the earth, where they gain the tools to resolve conflicts nonviolently, where they learn to respect themselves and others.

#21 Share this with 21 of your Friends

Please share this with at least 21 others.  Let’s spread the message of peace and help support Peace Village!
